St.Stephen's School

Class 1IN

We are in 1IN and our classroom is Room 4. Our teacher is Ms Isabelle North and our EA is Mrs Angela Brown. Our HLTA is Mrs Misbah Dar.

We are very excited to have entered Key Stage 1 and to become independent and engaged learners. This year, we are building lots of basic skills such as reading sounds, retelling stories, counting, adding and subtracting, cutting, sorting and many more. These skills will help us to be successful throughout our time at St Stephens and beyond!

We are kind, friendly and polite children, who make sensible choices and try our best. We enjoy helping our friends and working together to achieve our goals. In Year 1, we are striving to produce our best possible work by presenting our letters and numbers neatly and clearly and drawing beautiful pictures.

This year, we will focus on improving our phonics and should be masters by the end of the year. It is very important that we read every day at home and in school so we become confident readers. We will also be exploring a plethora of wonderful core books, which will ignite our imaginations for writing.

In Maths, we will be learning about numbers to 100 and beyond. We will use ten frames, cubes, numicon and other exciting resources to become more confident in adding and subtracting. To become Maths superstars, we must learn our number bonds to 10 and 20, so we will practise these until we know them inside out.

1IN Class Charter

Each class at St. Stephen’s Primary School will complete a class charter, outlining agreements for members of the class and duty bearers (adults). All pupils are entitled to receive their rights. This class charter will form the basis of a display in class, be displayed on the class website page and also be used for class disciplinary matters.
