Year 5 Residential to Barge Haybay

child climbing a rockOn Wednesday 5th October, Year 5 visited the Barge Haybay in Essex. For many of them, it was the first time that they had been away from home without parents! Everyone excitedly boarded the coach on Wednesday morning, eager to try new things which they had never been done before!

Whilst at the Barge, Year 5 undertook 5 different activities - canoeing, a night walk, rock climbing, archery and orienteering. Everyone learnt lots of new skills, but most importantly, learnt how to work as part of a team and support each other.

Also, everyone had to help to keep the Barge clean, and to prepare food. Each child was in a team and had a rota to make our meals, wash up, set the tables, tidy rooms and make beds! By Friday when it was time to come home, everyone had had a great deal of fun, and had learnt lots of news skills!
