Year 5 Precious Primates Workshop
In Year 5,we had a workshop that explored Tropical Rainforests like the Amazon. Two people came from the charity named Born Free and introduced us with the key points we were going to cover in the workshop.
The reason rainforests are actually so important, as they contain materials, medical medicines and they even remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The main animal species or family that live in the forest are primates. We learnt that primates mostly live in rainforest in North west Africa, but then we discovered that more than half of all primates are critically endangered and that unfortunately humans are the root of the predicted future primate extinction.
We can help by eating less meat, using sustainable products, recycling old electronics and using less water. At the end of the session, we had to write short speeches on how we can help save the rainforests and we then presented these to the class. It was a very enjoyable workshop where we learnt a lot!
