St.Stephen's School

Year 3 and 4 Handball Competition

On Wednesday 29th January, year 12 children from year 3 and 4 combined, were fortunate to attend a Handball Competition at St. Angela’s Ursuline School. There were competed against 11 other schools in Newham.

Walking to the school was an experience in itself as the hammering rain blurred our vision and soaked our coats. Fortunately it stopped after a while and brightened up.

We were amazed to see so many schools in one hall. They were all enthusiastic and noisy. Since this was our first experience, we observed what was going on and waited patiently for the tournament to start. It was clear that all the other schools had participated in the past and this game was new to us. The rules were changed slightly as a challenge. All the matches lasted only 4 minutes, which seemed to fly by. However, we were all keen to have a go and Katy (4K) made many substitutions so that we played quite often.

In the end, we didn’t make it to the final but gave our all whilst competing and enjoyed the experience.
