Year 3 Visit to Tate Modern
As part of Year 3's Vive La France creative curriculum topic, we are looking at different French artists. Although lots of famous French artists are featured in the National Gallery, we wanted to make comparisons with modern artwork, so we went on the District line all the way to Blackfriars before walking to the Tate Modern on Bankside.
When we were inside the gallery, we were amazed at the size of the great turbine hall, which shows what the gallery used to be. After travelling up the escalators, we saw paintings and sculptures by numerous different artists, and made notes and sketches in the sketchbooks we had made when we were inspired.
Along with inspiration from the artworks inside the gallery, we also took ideas from the London skyline around the River Thames, making comparisons to the buildings and features in France.
As we travelled back on the tube, we looked through all the skecthes and notes we had made in our sketchbooks and thought about how we could use some of these ideas in our own artwork in the future.
