Year 2 Visit Chalkwell Beach

Year 2 went on a trip to Chalkwell Beach. I was a beautiful sunny day and we were very excited.

We travelled by tube to Barking and boarded the C2C to Chalkwell.  We saw lots of interesting things along the way such as, cows, horses and wind turbines. After about 30 minutes we arrived at Chalkwell  Beach.

We got off the train we smelt the sea and fresh air. Our teachers explained the rules and we were then able to play in the sand and pebbles. We had a competition to see who could build the biggest sandcastle. The sand was really dry and didn't stick together so we added some water to make it stick. We also collected seaweed, shells, leaves and rocks for our Andy Goldsworthy art.

At lunch time we had a picnic on the beach. We ate a sandwich, some yummy biscuits and some fruit. Once, we had all had lunch we are again able to play on the beach and we saw the tide coming in. After that, we went and brought a vanilla and chocolate ice cream from the little shop and it was yummy.  We had to eat it quickly so that it wouldn’t melt.

Finally, it was time for us to go home. We all said bye to the beach and we walked back to Chalkwell Station.   The best part of the day was burying our friends in the sand.

We are sure that if you went to Chalkwell Beach you would also have a wonderful day!
