Year 2 Skateboarding Workshop: Sky Brown
In Year 2, we have been rolling into our new topic with Britain’s youngest Olympic medallist, Sky Brown, as our inspiration. The children designed their own skateboards, helmets and T-shirts, created mini skate parks using small boards and blocks, and wrote fact files about Sky Brown, focusing on how resilient and determined she was to win an Olympic medal at just 13 years old.
On Tuesday 2nd December, the excitement moved into the hall, where Coach Connor led a brilliant skateboarding workshop. The children learned how to jump onto their boards with two feet, hop forwards and backwards, mount the board by tipping it up with one foot and even try a wheel flip mount. Wearing their very cool safety gear, they worked together, encouraged one another and showed fantastic bravery and teamwork.
It was a wonderful experience and a memorable way to bring their learning to life!
