Year 1 visit Victoria park

children walking the tightropeYear 1 have spent the last half term learning about ‘Parks and Gardens’ as part of our Creative Curriculum topic. On Friday 10th May we had the opportunity to visit one of the parks we had been investigating; Victoria Park. We had been learning about directions and using maps in class and around school, we developed these skills further at the park by using a map to help find our way around. We also followed photograph clues to help us locate some of the famous features.

We had a very enjoyable day, especially walking along the canal, playing in the amazing Victoria and Alexandra Playground and eating our lunch in the beautiful grassed areas.

Victoria Park is so large that unfortunately we only managed to see half of it. Perhaps you could visit the park one weekend and see what other exciting features you can find.
