Y1 Marvellous Monarchy Parent Workshop

Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic “Marvellous Monarchy” workshop, where we welcomed parents into school to support our learning about past and present monarchy as part of our history unit.

The children explored how the monarchy has changed over time, discussing key differences between monarchs of the past and the present day. They thought carefully about what monarchy means and how it links to our history.
Working alongside their parents, the children then created their own family trees, helping them to understand the idea of past and present within their own lives. This was followed by a fun and creative activity where families decorated cookies together, which the children were delighted to take home. To finish, everyone designed and made their own royal crowns, inspired by what they had learned about monarchy.
It was a wonderful opportunity for shared learning, creativity, and conversation, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience with their families.
