St.Stephen's School

Whole school Visit to the Royal Albert Hall

On the 20th December St Stephen’s Primary School had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the famous Royal Albert Hall. KS2 travelled to our destination via the London underground while Year 2 travelled in style by coach. The children were extremely excited about the visit and they were not disappointed.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly Royal Albert Hall staff and shown to our plush, red velvet seats. Once we were all seated we were wowed by the dulcet tones of the actor Stephen Mangan. He read out an extract from the book Paddington while the famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied him live!!! For many of us it was the first time that we had seen or heard an orchestra and we thought it was absolutely amazing.

After a brief interval we were treated to the animated film The Snowman on a huge screen accompanied by the orchestra. We were absolutely astonished when the song Walking in the Air was sung live by a primary school child! We found it both brave and inspirational and many of us would love the opportunity to be able to do the same!
We all returned to school safely and full of festive joy!!!

Thanks you Georgia for organising this!
