Trip to Westfield Stratford City - Apple Store Programming Workshop
On Thursday 5th June, 12 children had the opportunity to attend a programming workshop at the Apple Store in Westfield Stratford City.
The children had a chance to learn new skills using Swift Playground Programming Language. Children took part in an icebreaker activity where they gave one another instructions to write letters on iPads without looking, they then had to guess the correct word. This skill enabled the children to understand some basic coding concepts such as programming characters to move in a certain direction and following clear instructions (Algorithms). Children then programmed a character called ‘Byte’ to move around the virtual playground.
Children also had a chance to explore some of the latest devices in store such as Apple’s iWatch, iPads, Macbooks etc.
Everyone had really good fun, this was an engaging and interactive session that all children thoroughly enjoyed.
