St.Stephen's School

Secondary School transition programme for Year 5

On Tuesday 2nd December, a group of Year 5 pupils visited a local Secondary School as part of a new borough-wide transition programme. The initiative gave them the opportunity to experience life in a Secondary setting, helping to support a smooth transition and build confidence as they prepare for life beyond St Stephen’s.

Throughout the morning, the children took part in a range of Key Stage 3 lessons. They explored biomes in Geography, carried out a series of experiments using Bunsen burners in Chemistry and even had the chance to work in a fully equipped Science laboratory. They also quickly discovered that Secondary School involves a lot more walking as they moved between classrooms across the wider school site!

This was a valuable experience for both pupils and staff and we look forward to continuing this collaboration in the future.
