New Scientist Festival at ExCeL London
Young scientists from years 5 and 6 were thrilled to go to the New Scientist festival this year at the ExCeL Centre. It was the first time travelling on the Elizabeth line for many of us, which was exciting.
While we were at the festival, we were able to take part in many interactive activities to extend our learning beyond the classroom and bring the world of STEM to life. We used robotic arms to carry things and watched a robotic dog do tricks. We met and chatted to pilots from the Royal Air Force, who were kind enough to let us sit in a model aircraft and talk us through how it works.
We were fascinated to learn about hospitals of the future. We looked at how brain scans could be used in the future to detect problems early in life.
We finished our trip off by learning about a range of careers that STEM offers. We learnt that STEM can take you all over the world and it is not just about sitting in a laboratory.
