Matilda The Musical

Matilda The Musical

On 16 November, Year 5 and 6 went on a wonderful trip to the theatre to see the utterly exhilarating musical, Matilda. Year 3 and 4 were also lucky to go on the same trip a week later on the 23rd of November.

Matilda, is an award winning musical and has been delighting audiences for over a decade.  So we knew we were very lucky to be going to watch such a great show. Before,  we went on the visit we all read the story of Matilda as  a class, so we were already familiar with the characters.

On the day of the visit, we travelled by tube and got on at Upton Park station and got off at Embankment station. After leaving the station, we made our way to the fancy West End theatre. The theatre was exhilarating and as we went down the stairs to our seats, everybody’s hearts were racing. Then after a long wait, it finally began…

The show started with a humongous loud bang and then the song started. There were many different songs and all of them were equally great. The most popular songs were Revolting Children, When I Grow Up and My Mummy says I’m a Miracle. As well as singing, there was a lot of dancing. An especially loved dance move was when Rudolfo (Mrs. Wormwood’s dance partner) went under her legs and wiggled his bum!! The actors and musicians were incredible and the stage displays were amazing. In the middle of the show, there was a break otherwise known as an interval.  We had snacks in the interval and eagerly waited for the second half to start.

The performance was even better than we had anticipated and something that we will remember forever.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all the teachers for organising the visit.
