St.Stephen's School

Literature Festival was short and sweet this year, due to extreme weather conditions. In the days we did have, we were able to celebrate three fantastic days of the Literature Festival. The children celebrated strong female characters in literature by immersing themselves in texts which honoured strong female role models. The children took part in buddy reading across all year groups and read an array of different fiction and non-fiction texts. The children were all given the opportunity to write their own story, which featured a strong female character as the lead. The following week, the whole school took part in the Spelling Bee finals. Our plans for other events, including: story workshops based on each class’ text, World Book Day dress up day and local library visits will be on hold until the next Literature Festival! Happy Reading!
