Incredible India

Year 4’s Creative Curriculum topic this term is ‘Incredible India’. As part of this work on Thursday 7th November they had the opportunity to take part in an architecture workshop to build a model of the Taj Mahal.

The children first learned how to create a strong triangular shape using dowel and elastic bands. Then they joined together with other groups to increase size of their sections. “The octahedrons we made were very strong because they were made from lots of strong triangles.”

Once the octahedrons were made, the children learned how to attach them to each other to create the minarets, while another group worked alongside the architect to construct the dome.

What a wonderful experience!
