Immersive Writing Week 2025: A Journey Through Words and Places
Our Year 6 pupils recently took part in an unforgettable Immersive Writing Week, exploring London through the eyes of authors, poets and journalists. Over three exciting days, the children travelled to Greenwich, Canary Wharf and Epping Forest – three contrasting locations that challenged them to think deeply, write creatively and see the world with fresh perspectives.
Each day offered a new opportunity to bring writing to life. In Canary Wharf, pupils stepped into the fast-paced world of journalism, transforming the city’s energy and movement into engaging newspaper reports. Greenwich provided a rich mix of history and architecture, inspiring thoughtful comparison pieces that contrasted its riverside heritage with other environments. Finally, the calm beauty of Epping Forest encouraged students to slow down, listen and let nature shape their poetic voices.
Across the week, our young writers showed remarkable focus and imagination. From capturing reflections on the Thames to describing the quiet rustle of the forest, their words reflected not only developing skill but genuine wonder.
We are incredibly proud of how our Year 6 pupils embraced each challenge with creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm. Their writing outcomes truly reflect the depth of their experiences and the joy of finding inspiration beyond the classroom walls.
A heartfelt thank you to all the staff, helpers and pupils who made Immersive Writing Week 2025 such a memorable success – a celebration of learning, creativity and the power of place.
