Health Event

Health Event January 18th 2018

The health event brought together various services offered by the children’s centre in conjunction with some of professionals and support groups that we work with.

All parents and children across the school and children’s centre were invited to come in and enjoy healthy activities such as making healthy sandwiches with their children and even shaking a leg for a heart pumping Zumba session!

Specialists from across the borough came together to provide advice and guidance to promote healthier lifestyles.

Active Newham came in to highlight various activities across Newham for increase physical activity.

Also present was a nutritionist from ‘Change 4 Life’ who demonstrated food labelling and hidden sugar contents to common snack foods.

The midwives were on hand to do blood pressure readings for willing participants and the ‘Mindfulness’ stand gave awareness for mental health and links for supporting organisations.

‘Aanchal’ offer support to Asian women for issues such as domestic violence and offer
empowerment sessions and advice.

We also had our community dental nurse give tips on improving oral health in children and the BHF information stand which shared recipe ideas for deliciously nutritious and balanced dinner meals.

Overall, the health event was a lovely evening raising awareness for healthier lifestyles and we enjoyed meeting many of you parents and children and thank you for your participation.

Please feel free to approach staff at the children’s centre if you require assistance or guidance on any matters and we will be more than happy to help.
