St.Stephen's School

Class RNO

Welcome to RNO!

We are a group of kind, friendly, and hardworking children, thrilled to embark on our Reception journey. Our teacher is Nana Obeng-Sabah and we are very fortunate to have a dedicated team within Reception, with Gentiana Aga being our Senior support staff. RNO is located in Room 1 where we are more than happy to answer any of your queries or questions.

This academic year, we're diving headfirst into Phonics to unlock the world of captivating stories. We encourage you to read with us daily at home and engage in asking questions about the stories you have read. This practice not only enhances our vocabulary but also fuels our imagination. Additionally, writing our names is an essential skill that we will be mastering, alongside how to hold a pencil, form letters and write sentences.

Friendship-building and independence are core values within Reception. We're immersing ourselves in a diverse array of stories, learning and singing numerous nursery rhymes and songs along the way.

In our maths lessons, we're delving into numbers up to 20 and mastering number bonds to 10. This foundation will boost our confidence when we're adding and subtracting with objects. We will also learn about 2D shapes, compare quantities of objects and solve various problems to build our mathematical thinking.

We are eager to explore the world around us and learn how to care for it. This includes exploring the wonders of the different seasons, discovering different countries, and embarking on adventures to local parks and the forest. Additionally, we will learn about the people who help us in within our community.

We are excited about the journey ahead and can't wait to learn, grow, and make new experiences together!
