Class RJC
✨ Welcome to RJC – where little learners become big explorers! ✨
We may be the youngest in the school, but we are bursting with energy, curiosity, and excitement for all the adventures Reception has in store. This year, RJC is guided by a warm, caring, and highly skilled team. Leading the way is our class teacher, Jenna Cooke, alongside our brilliant Senior Support Staff, Gentiana Aga, and our fabulous team of Educational Assistants and Nursery Nurses. Together, they make sure every day is filled with support, encouragement, and joy.
In RJC, learning feels like play and each day brings something new to discover. We will be making friends (the kind that might last a lifetime!), exploring the magic of school life at St Stephen’s, and filling our classroom and garden with laughter, creativity, and wonder. Things may get a little messy now and then — especially when we are whipping up adventures in the mud kitchen — but that’s exactly how we learn best!
One of our big goals this year is to become Phonics Superstars. We will be sounding out words, diving into exciting stories, and letting our imaginations soar. Families can join in by reading with us every day at home — and don’t forget to ask questions about the stories we read. We love to share our thoughts and ideas! It is a great opportunity to speak in full sentences with a clear voice.
We are also on a journey to independence: tackling tricky buttons and zips, learning to write our names, and discovering the joy of doing things all by ourselves. In Maths, we will be getting to know numbers up to 20, mastering number bonds to 10, and having fun with counting, adding, subtracting, and problem-solving — sometimes with the help of teddy bears, dinosaurs, or other playful friends.
Beyond the classroom, we will be learning about the wider world: from the wonder of changing seasons to exploring local parks, discovering different countries, and even venturing on forest adventures. Whether we are singing nursery rhymes, sharing stories, or building castles out of blocks, one thing is certain: this will be a year full of learning, laughter, and lasting memories.
