St.Stephen's School

Class 2MW

Welcome to Class 2MW

We are excited to start our Year 2 journey with our new teachers Maryjane Winston and Zahira Khonat. We are also lucky to be working with Jash Halai, our senior support staff member along with a range of additional adults. You can find us in Room 9.

This year, our vibrant and supportive classroom will focus on exploring new ideas, building on what we have learned, and having lots of fun along the way. We will dive into fascinating topics through our exciting immersive learning curriculum and learn all about The Great Fire of London, The Seaside, Australia and its surrounding ocean, Roman Warriors and Global Heroes.

We will master our skills in Maths and English to become confident readers, writers, and mathematicians.

In English, reading will be at the core of all that we do. Our learning will focus on key texts throughout the year, linking a range of speaking and listening, writing and creative opportunities. You can find a list of these books on the school website.

In Maths, we will secure our knowledge of place value and the four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also focus on measurements and the properties of shapes.

Throughout our learning, we will uphold our school’s WE CARE ethos. We will demonstrate these values in all that we do.

WE CARE stands for:

Wellbeing

Expression

Courtesy

Acceptance

Respect

Excellence

As part of our immersive learning offer, we will have the opportunity to take part in a skateboarding workshop and explore the amazing achievements of both male and female skateboarders in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

With hands-on projects, outdoor adventures, and plenty of opportunities to work together, Year 2 is all about growing both academically and personally.

We look forward to flourishing this year and making it an unforgettable one!
