Maths Week
The whole school recently took part in Maths week, with a focus on money. Many exciting activities and lessons were planned throughout the week. Year 6 visited the Bank of England and Years 3 and 4 took part in a session where they had to buy letters to make words.
Ks1 also had fun with money, Year 2 visited the local shops, so that they could use real money to purchase items. We are planning to put our purchased items into a shoe box and send them to the less fortunate children in some parts of Africa.
Reception held a workshop, where parents were able to discover techniques and strategies for helping their child with basic maths skills. Whilst Year 1 used money to buy ice cream for their seaside themed day.
We also held a sponsored times-tableathon. We have raised over £800 so far and are going to use this money to buy outdoor equipment that will enhance our mathematical learning.
