Welcome back everyone!Hope you have had a wonderful Easter break.
We can’t believe that it is April already! This half term, our topic is the ‘Seaside’. We are very excited as we will be designing and creating a lighthouse in Design and Technology. Did you know that lighthouse’s keep ships safe so that they do not crash into perilous rocks at night!
On this note we will also be looking at physical features of a seaside in detail and comparing and contrasting coastal resorts from England and abroad. So please bring in your seaside, holiday photographs for our display. In Geography we are locating seasides by using the internet and maps.
This links with our science topic this term in which we will investigate materials. Our challenge is to design and test a basket that will carry our weighty and delicious lunch without tearing or breaking. In Literacy we are writing our own fantasy stories by using the seaside as a setting. In order to purchase items for the seaside we will visit local shops in Green Street.
We also aim to have a themed seaside day so come dressed in your holiday clothes. We are expecting to visit Mile End Park which has a creative sand area with water pumps and pipes which are great fun to use.
Lastly we would like to thank you for supporting us as we are taking our SATs on May 15th 2013. We have been working really hard so wish us the best of luck!
